I can't type umlauts either. But it's not a big
problem. An umlaut
originally meant an extra tiny "e". So, I just add an
"e". "Books" in
German would be "Buecher".
And Old Norse "thief" would be "thjolfr".
Old norse "it" would be "dhat". It's really easy to
figure it out.
I'm not sure what "to the men" would be, but I think
it would be "m
umlauted o n nu m". I would write that "moennum".
It's really easy to
read it and understand it. Maybe there is some html
code I could use
for Norse letters, but I don't know what it is.
"th" = ?
"dh" = ?
"oe" = ?

Medhal: Here is below the accents and code useful in
html code according to
the ISO chart for 8859 Latin-1
Þ for TH or þ
Ð for dh or capital Ð
ð for dh or ð
for "OE" that would be , I am sorry! There is no html
tags for such
character in MSIE or Netscape under my knowledge. Any
ideas?
However for "AE" the tag is &Aelig; and results in Æ
(Capital AE)
æ for æ
&Aelig for Æ
and Ø for Ø
ø for non capital ø
Hope it becomes useful.

Hello there,
It's bad enough that all of my University
professors want to spend 5 minutes of every
lecture preaching about the evils of Microsoft
and the noble open source world, I'm getting
rather tired of hearing the exact same things
over here.
I don't care whether you use 'dir' or 'ls'
to see a list of files in a directory, I
just want you to be able to read the lessons.
The conclusion of the discussion seems to be
to use Word-generated HTML along with a recent
(I don't remember exactly) version of MS-Word.
And if someone comes along and tells me that
HTML has now been taken over by The Evil Empire
(tm) and can't be read by your computer then
the same can start looking for a new home
nine worlds below this one.
Regards,
Haukur

Medhal being annoying again: It is the MS-Word 97 (or
upper) version that
can change *.doc, *rtf, *.txt or any format this Word
can read into html.
BTW, I just finished the first exercice of the Chapter
One. What was the
email of the one (or two, I don't remember very well.
Such big daily
diggests is becoming a little chaotic here.. LOL) I
must send it?
I am sorry ye (and all of us) are with problems with
The Evil Empire (tm)!
I with that
"May The Force be with you!" ;-)
