I can with no problem. Also I would be willing to to organize the images and
convert them into .gif files which can be viewed on any browswer and post it
at my site. This depends on how the person that made the images feels about
this. What do you think?

Might I suggest using an OCR program that is trainable. To train it a series of characters would need to be given to the program to learn them. By doing this you will greatly reduce the number of errors. Here is a link to an Open Source one that is trainable.

I can provide the use of a few machines running linux, both are high range Pentium 3's with 512 Mb ram. If the training is done properly the error rate should be low. The other key is what does the program put when it doesn't recognize a character. If it is something like a * then it is easy to pick those out when proofreading.

Just a suggestion for a beginning Old norse learning, but avid computer person.
