Although to contribute to the actual discussion of that film, I think it
was a rather good adaptation of _Eaters of the Dead_ by Michael Crichton -
but that his book was never very historically accurate in the first
place. He was writing a fantasy novel loosely based on _Beowulf_, the
journals of ibn Fadlan, and some of the theories of Marija Gimbutas. I
found it rather amusing that the writers of "The 13th Warrior" were not
only familiar with this, but even tried to update some of the features with
later theories of Gimbutas and the developments on them by Miriam Dexter -
too bad we couldn't have gotten the writers to direct...
