Dear Brian,
They're not lost yet. I've saved them in an Sqlite3 database plus loose files for the salvageable attachments. I've also saved the files and photos, though, not being a moderator, I may have lost resolution. I'm not intending to host that group, but I could convert the posts to a website section as for Cybalist for convenience. Creating catalogues of files is currently a more labour intensive job. (I've plans to publish a few lesser Yahoo groups.) Given my current spare time workload, I may not get round to the non-Cybalist stuff until February 2020. I can also let you have copies of my extraction program(s). It uses the sqlite3 library, which is readily available for the main Linux systems.
I may be able to email the posts in chunks - you'd have to concatenate the stuff (Linux cat, DOSsy copy) in order to unzip it. The uncompressed posts are about 50MB in Sqlite3. For formatted files, tar and (g)zip is best - there's quite a bit of redundancy between posts. The alternative would to post you a CD or DVD.
Richard.
