Chairs of destiny, in Völuspá 6: is it possible that rök, destiny, is connected to various old words for distaff: English rock, Italian rocca, and so on? Or would it be more like Serbian Srecha, Russian rech', and allied terms around judgement/reckoning?
Reason i ask: numerous Scandinavian archaeological finds of iron staffs, many shaped like distaffs, were buried with women, ca 10th century, who Norse scholars now see as völur / seiðkonur.
Also: any reads on Anglo-Saxon leodrune? i was originally thinking leod might be connected to "song," but now am considering "people," as in German leute, Russian lyudei, etc. Or something else?
Any insights would be appreciated.
