Dear Lalit,

You have a right to post your doubts and I did follow up on research. I understand your doubts and the reason for them and I thank you.
The Oraons, until recently, used the Devanagari script for their language / dialects. However, their language/ dialects pertains to the Elamo Dravidian family group.
See Omniglot for the new script devised by Dr.Oraon. (www.omniglot.com/writing/tolongsiki.htm)

Thanks for bringing up this issue. I posted my study so that list members could comment. Let´s pursue scholarly topics in a scholarly manner and post our comments accordingly.

[ Bhills are Indo Hittite and they have a genetic link Indian Elamo Dravidian "Oraon"]

[ L.Mishra , a list member has cast doubts on the linguistic group assigned to the Oraons. I would be obliged if list members could provide links to research data.]

L Mishra is more interested in accuracy of specific methdology used, that gives such ( strange ) outcomes, Who among Indians ( Indian Scholar, Indian Institutions etc) conducted a due dilligence on the methodology on linguistic grounds, offcource, data is important but not in isolation, and who can claim transparency. Genetics, I am not interested to discuss, thats a complicated subject and more than belief and disbelief or a rationale developed on book readings, those who are into history, may not be knowing criticalities involved, therefore, I wish to close discussion on linguistic part of the research.

I am not a skeptic, but I have serious doubts on quality of strange researches, seeing the quality of Sanskrit that Witzel and Witzel's oponents exhibit, Eist and F Brighenty etc, Witzel says "Samudra" is confluence of rivers not the ocean, he has no idea how the word "Samudra" is formed, He has no idea how word "Sangam" is formed, Lets analyze it, "Samudra" is made of Sam ( Evenly) and Udra (Water), the formation denotes, a place where water remains even, looks evenly, Pls note, no flow or movement is added to "Udra", A person who has elementary knowledge of Sanskrit wd not do kind of mistake that Witzel does with all pump and show and repeates such mistakes at many places.

Now, lets take "Sangam" that means "Confluence" not the "Ocean", Here is the right Vedic mantra that shows Vedic Rishis knew whats the "Cconfluence" or "Sangam" is in fact and how rivers makes "Sangam" or "Confluence" keeps the difference with "Samudra", Pls note word "Nadi" or "River" is specifically added to "Sangam" and formation is according to Pratishakhya rules, "Gam" in "Sangam" denotes flow thats absent in "Samudra.

उपह्वरे गिरीणाम संगमे च नदीनामधिया विप्रो अजायत
Such clean crisp points where Witzel erred, went into circles. Talageri too didnt touch upon, So is Eist or F Brighenty, Much ado about no contribution to matter, just dump a book and claim Hindus are noise makers so that your folly, the void in your work can easily remain hidden and you get pleasure of counting yourself a scholar that stands apart, What does it show ?
As said, there are many more cases, If members are inerested, I can take up one by one, that's a fun, Indeed !!
This is the reason, I made appeal to everybody to pls do some self study, don't run behind such researches in the matters of Vedas, such AIT/AMT/OIT are just a matter of 15 minutes debate, Can be demolished in view of textual evidences forever !!

Dear Shivraj,

Princeton University Press ...... The genetic links of the Oraons has undergone more research. Being a north Indian Elamo-Dravidian linguistic family has brought about more research on their genetic links to the Bhils (Indo-Hittite linguistic family).

L.Mishra , a list member has cast doubts on the linguistic group assigned to the Oraons. I would be obliged if list members could provide links to research data.

Best regards,
