"hypostasis" use

Dear all,
I am researching the phenomenon of hypostasis and I would like to ask you some questions.

As far as I know, there are two authors that offered a definition, the use of the term is quite sporadic and yet relatively incoherent. Through personal communication in real life I have surmised most linguists have never even heard of it, so I would like to ask:

If you use the term, what is your definition and is it something you understood from its use by others, or do you base it on an explicitly written definition or on lectures you were taught at university?
If you don't use the term even though you are acquainted with it, what are your reasons?

I seek to find if there could be some consensus on the matter.
