BTW doesn't he say those Bastarnae were named Peucini because they *took* Peuke, not because they stayed there?

What indeed if Peuce wasn't a stable settlement for anybody, but just a convenient "strong point" from which to launch attacks across the Danube (or secure a withdrawal if necessary). That would put an entirely different slant on who the "Peucini" were, and where their major permanent settlements might have been.*****
