Sounds like a good explanation for Sanskrit <svad-> "to taste good, to enjoy the taste of, to make palatable or savoury, season" (but also "to make sweet or pleasant or agreeable; to be pleasant or wholesome; to propitiate, conciliate"). Confusion with <sva:du-> seems like it would be inevitable.
