It isn't the 'yoke' word (Slavic *jIgo), but the Slavic word for 'wagon
shaft, tongue (of a vehicle)', an original s-stem neuter (Slavic
*oje/*ojes-). The PIE reconstruction is rather uncertain: *Hoi(H)os
(approx.), with few cognates in the family.
