Has he, for instance, singled out any "genes of intelligence" , which he or anyone else could analyze, from ancient skeletal samples of Kurgan people, further comparing them with the "genes of intelligence" of, let us say, ancient Minoan or Indus Valley people? Or does his theory entirely rest on the observation that IEs managed to "conquer" many southern countries, with this showing their higher intelligence? Because, if the latter is the case, his would be a perfectly circular argument!

***R There is only one race I know of, the human race. But if I'm in error and some of you are Neandertals or Australopithecines, I'll retract that remark. BTW: primitive does not mean "stupid." I'd prefer a conversation with a successful Inuit hunter over a successful stock broker any day. Headhunting persisted among the Celts until the 1600s or so, when Ireland was finally brought under British rule. My mac Alastair ancestors were Scots gallowglasses and were paid in land in Ireland for every English soldier's head they delivered to the O'Neills. The English, OTOH, paid silver money for ears, be they of men, women and children. At least this is the story that was passed down in my family for 400 years.

IE's, or some branches that later became the actual IE's were steppe people, and where they lived, it indeed may have been cold, but coldness alone is not paramount to boost and settle for good IQ scores. In north central Asia lands are frozen most of the time. A few thousands years ago frost lines where to the south of where they are today. Migratory living was mandatory. People followed herds, fought against each other for suitable land, of which there was precious little. They were schooled from the cradle to fight. Head hunting was the game, and head hunters scanned the lands. Even among the Brythonic Celts, who, due to their relative insular isolation, retained this custom and many others longer then the European tribes. When successive waves of Irish, Germanic, and French-Norman invaders bid for the land, they spoke of people who, were primitive technologically, but even more so culturally. If you have people living off war, whole tribes, ,and down to, at some point, advanced horse riding skills, wide geographical zones subjugated by chieftains, who could negotiate and control large territories, an image of IE's finally zooming out and spreading into distant lands imposing their languages, is not that hard to imagine. The conquered people had favorable climate and plenty to eat and share, thus there was no need to employ this model of community the IE's were forced to live in to survive. But there was a catch, and they had to pay for it when waves of IE's begun to expand in all directions. Subsequent invasions, recorded by Turkish and Magyar languages are the window into a past, of a small scale model.
