Gothic mats

Reading these books and these roots I come out with another misunderstanding

we have a root
1. mad- 'to be wet, to be fat'
(mixed by LIV in 2 roots mad- med- that for a strange reason, at least for me)

and next

2. med- 'to measure, to judge'

But when I took Gothic mats (English meat) the root where to assign this word become very unclear for me

In Pokorny this word enter on a third root

3. med-2 Pokorny 706

Any clear etymology for Gothic mats?

Thanks again,
Marius
