I had heard about some of these changes.
Especially, aigüe instead or aiguë.
This is more a kind of very light emendation than a reform anyway.
I noticed the article does not attribute the merit of this reform to
Mitterrand, which was your original claim.

It seems dictionaries and Word correctors apply the changes so it
should logically gradually become the new norm.
