More likely acc.pl. *-anz > *-a~ > -a(:), used for the nom.pl.

_All_ Germanic strong masculine plurals (except that seen in OHG) can be
derived from *-o:ziz ~ *-o:siz < *-o:s-es without any serious difficulties.
