I think I'm not mistaken if I state that ALL syllables can be
stressed in Italian, and that the irregular stress can be ALWAYS
marked by an accent in the orthography.

In this particular case, I assure you *I* am a statistical-survey-
walking. I have met hundreds or thousands of French persons during
my life, and the best they could do was to pronounce Francesco as
[fRANs^e'sko] (with [s^] as in Chinois).
