I've wondered if Spanish impersonal se and it's medio-passive-like use of the reflexive may not have been somehow inspired by Basque ergative, i.e. someway to recreate it in another system.

Yeniseian supposedly moved north from the head of the Yenisei valley, near present Tuva or W. Mongolia. I think I got that from Wiki, FWIW. Perhaps it came from farther south
