Not to <roe>, which reflects OE ra:, ra:(h)a < *raix-an- (no initial
dorsal). Nor <roan>, which represents a loan returned (Romance, from
Germanic *rauðan- 'red'). A connection with <horn> is supported by
Pokorny, but how can one derive *k^roi-no- from *k^erh2-??
