Oh, come on. OE has o:s 'god' < *ansu- (= OHG ans-, as in Anselm) and
e:aster ~ e:astre < *aus(t)r(-o:n)- (OHG o:st(a)ra). OE o: and OHG o:
just aren't the same thing and can't be compared.
