To moderate a list can be quite tiresome, reading tons of e-mails not always with really... sound content. I think it's better to save energy for writing to the list too, instead of just keeping it habitable. This list has (or had?) an ecosystem of its own... let's rescue that. It's ok to write harmless nonsense; but if it becomes harming, expel them, 'and be you blithe and bonny' &c &c.
And of course this list is still viable : ).
