Abstract:The article explores the origin and proper usage of a Greek
name usually rendered as "Comanus," whose most famous bearers were
mostly from second century B.C. The author discusses how the bearers of
the name, which orthodox form is Ko¦Ìav#x00F3;c, should spell and
accentuate their name. The proper noun "Ko¦Ìavoc," based on its
spelling, was derived from a name of a place called K¨®#x03BC;ava.
However, the form "K¨®#x03BC;avoc" can also be written if the middle
syllable is short and the word has no feminine form.
