That reminds me of another example: Icelandic <guð> 'god'
and words derived from it, including names like <Guðmundur>,
are pronounced as if the element were spelled <gvuð>,
roughly [kvYð] (where [k] is unaspirated). The older ON
form of the word is <goð>.
