distinguish /meRi/, /mERi/ , /maeRi/ in the US

I grew up just outside of NYC and have lived in the city for a decade
now - it seems to me that most New Yorks pronounce these three words
virtually the same (of course, a great number of NYC residents hail
from other parts of the country/world - it's sometimes hard to find
folks who were born and raised here).
