Late Middle/Early Modern English. Oops, sorry, it was me who had misread
your point about Old French. On the other hand, the list of words with
OFr. arC < erC (or with a variable pronunciation) could also be
extended: <parfit, marchëant, parchemin ~ perchemin> etc.
