Hello
does "Child" cognate with IE roots Kel- = shelter > Womb
Pat
=============
*g^el 'child' is attested in only two subgroups :
- yeniseian as *z^°l (schwa vowel)
- germanic as *kil-th-
Cf. Proto-Turcic ogul 'son'.
This is most probably a LW into Germanic and Yeniseian.
The On-line Tocharian dictionary by Adams has a word 'boy, youth' starting
with k.
It does not show up properly on my computer :
the consonantic skeleton is k_l_sk- : ka¨lyske ??
Is this the same word as G and Y ?
Best.
