It's a shame that Richard Salomon promotes the disbelief in Indic CVC
orthographic syllables (Section 2.1.3), even though they're fairy rare
in India proper - the Limbu script is the nearest I'm aware of in
India. They crop up as regular features in the Lanna/Tham and
Javanese scripts, and cases can be made for them in Kharoshthi, Khmer
and, albeit weakly, in Thai.
