Though it's possible that all the attested languages had changes
that would eliminate K in that position, what would it mean in PIE? A
compound 'spotted sitter' seems odd; why call an animal a 'sitter'
unless the type of sitting mattered?

If it's from PIE, it might not have originally been applied to a
spotted cat (depending on time, place, etc.).
