****GK: Perhaps they were founded by migrants "from Croatia", either Albanian, or subsequently Albanized. There are a couple of areas in Ukraine called "Pechenihy" (et sim.) The favourite theory is that they might have been originally settled by Pechenegs (there are records of such settlements, in general, in the chronicles, dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries). No Pechenegs live there today.****
