Like Gene Hackman in "A Bridge Too Far", playing General Sosabowski,
commander of the Polish parachute brigade. His performance was a very
good job, as usual, but the only words he had to say in Polish (while
boating across the river under heavy fire) were, "Sznur, sznur, dajcie
sznur!" (A rope, a rope, throw a rope!), pronounced so unconvincingly
for a Polish general that it's a good thing he otherwise spoke English
with a faux foreign accent.
