To me it sounds long BUT I've seen IPA descriptions
that distinguish between 2 sounds I perceive as /a:/.
Someone else can enlighten us regarding the difference
or purported difference.
Also in my English, the vowel in pot and the first
vowel in father are the same /pa:t/ fa:Dr/. I'd guess
Mr. (Dr.?) Wordingham would dare to differ.
