>So what ?
>Any LW into Hungarian shall hence have stress on the first,
>whatever it was before.
Yeah, but the Romanian is stressed on the second syllable, never on the
first. Stressing the first syllable is an impossibility, contrary to
the "customs"
of the subdialect
>Ok, Dear Trust-worthy native,
>How do you derive uveaga, üveg, iveg, éveg out of Ossetic avg?
I'd have some proposals, but I got no idea HOW IT REALLY WAS. Besides,
and this is of capital importance, I don't even know whether the word is
an Ossetic derivation. The Yaas language spoken in Hungary 800 years
ago was not the same Ossetic which is spoken in the Caucasus today.
Even if avg is supposed to have generated modern üveg, we don't know
how that <a> in <avg> sounded 800 years ago, namely whether it was
perceived by Hungarians as á /a:/ or as a /O/.
