concocted his theory on the basis of various sources. Clearly his
Lybed'=swan (Lebed') notion had Scandinavian affinities, while the
Rosomon connection was borrowed from Gothic lore (he doubtless saw
the Jormunrekr/Hermanaric connection). The previous editor (Nestor)
only knew the legend of the "three brothers".****
