So far nobody has provided an explanation for Hungarian üveg having ü,
and apaka: or Ossetic (?) avg don't obviously.
Why should it have ü starting with a ?
The idea that the root is uj- looks nice.
uj fused into ü
when the suffix -eg is attached, the glide is -v- because ü is a rounded
vowel,
this really makes sense.
