Out of curiosity, why do you compare a Proto-Germanic form with a *Modern*
Georgian form and not a Proto-Proto-Kartvelian(1) one? According to the Tower
of Babel, the Proto-Kartvelian root is *_zoGw-_:

What happened to the initial [s]~[z] in German?

Mod. Georgian for 'hedgehog' is _zGarbi_. I've found another word
beginning with _zGar-_: _zGarthani_ 'bump, flop' but nothing else.
