Kaka is feces, or faeces as they spell it outside the
US.
Given that the Vedas weren't written down until a
thousand years or more after the Aryans invaded India,
any date before say 400 BCE must logically be
pre-Vedic. The Aryans in India did not begin writing
until the arrival or adaptation of Brahmi script --see
Wikipedia, Omniglot, etc., sites which can explain
this in greater detail and accuracy than I can.
The Vedas refer to events that happened c. 1500 BCE,
over a thousand years before they were written down.
Supposedly, they were transmitted orally rather
faithfully and because of this, linguists can date
with relative precision when they were written. Our
colleagues on the list can tell you much more than I
can. Witzel has investigated the sites mentioned in
the Vedas, mainly in present day Pakistan and
Afghanistan, see his works for details.
The Aryan speakers who formed part of the Mitanni
elite branched off from the rest of the Aryans BEFORE
they entered India. When the Mitanni were top dogs in
Mesopotamia and nearby parts, the Aryans of India were
probably still entering the region --see an article on
Mitanni for more details, though.
