FWIW here's Spanish Wikipedia. It's extremely basic
but note that the Akkadian form is AMAR.UTU --which
does look a lot more like Maruta. Marduk is also from
"the last generation of Mesopotamia." And Marduk
inherited the powers of Ea and Enlil. But I'm sure you
already know that. I was looking for a Semitic meaning
of Marduk, but didn't find it. From what I see and
don't see, it looks like you're on to something.

fue el nombre de un dios de la última generación de
Mesopotamia y la deidad patrona de la ciudad de
Babilonia, quien, cuando esta ciudad se convirtió en
el centro político de los estados unificados del Valle
de Eufrates en los tiempos de Hammurabi (siglo XVII
adC), se levantó como cabeza del panteón de dioses
Babilónico.

No se si La versión original del dios Marduk es muy
oscura, pero cualquiera que fueran los rasgos
especiales que Marduk pudo haber tenido fueron
eclipsados por el reflejo del desarrollo político con
el cual el Valle de Eufrates experimentó y el cual lo
condujo a imbuirlo con los rasgos que pertenecían a
los dioses reconocidos como los jefes del panteón y
que pertenecían a períodos anteriores. Existen
particularmente dos dioses -Ea y Enlil - cuyos poderes
y atributos fueron heredados por Marduk. En el caso de
Ea la transferencia procedió pacíficamente y sin
opacar al dios más viejo, por lo tanto, Marduk es
visto como un hijo de Ea. El padre reconoce
voluntariamente la superioridad del hijo y le entrega
el control de la humanidad. Esta asociación de Marduk
y Ea, aunque indica la supremacía una vez gozada por
Eridu como centro político y religioso de Babilonia,
también puede reflejar una temprana dependencia de
Babilonia sobre Eridu, no necesariamente de carácter
político, sino, en vista de la difusión de la cultura
en el Valle de Eufrates desde el sur hacia el norte,
el reconocimiento de Eridu como el centro más antiguo
por parte del más joven.
En todos los acontecimientos, los rastros de un culto
de Marduk en Eridu deben ser observados en la
literatura religiosa, y la explicación más razonable
para la existencia del dios Marduk en Eridu es asumir
que Babilonia pagó de esta manera su homenaje hacia la
vieja ciudad como cabeza del Golfo Pérsico.
Mientras que la relación entre Ea y Marduk esta
marcada por la armonía y una amistosa abdicación por
parte del padre en favor del hijo, la asimilación de
poder de Marduk y las prerrogativas de poder de Enlil
de Nippur fueron a expensas del prestigio de este
último. Después de la época de Hammurabi, el culto de
Marduk eclipsó al de Enlil, y aunque durante los
cuatro siglos de control de los casitas sobre
Babilonia (1570 adC–1157 adC), Nippur y el culto de
Enlil disfrutaron un periodo de renacimiento, pero
cuando sobrevino la reacción, se marcó el triunfo
definitivo y permanente de Marduk sobre Enlil hasta el
fin del Imperio Babilónico. El único rival serio de
Marduk después del año 1000 adC fue Assur en Asiria.
