The headers say:
User-Agent: eGroups-EW/0.82
X-Mailer: Yahoo Groups Message Poster
so I'm assuming Torsten is using the Yahoo web interface for
posting.
The message is sent as multipart/alternative (text + HTML).
The MIME-headers of the first part state:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
The first line is a lie, as Torsten clearly was posting in
UTF-8. The second line is an abomination, but I don't want
to go into that right now.
The headers for the HTML part are the same:
Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
When I send a message, Forté Agent (which is what I use out
of habit, although Unicode is not one of its strongest
point) *does* correctly insert the appropriate headers
("text/plain; charset=UTF-8"). However, as I gathered from
Marius' complaints, the Yahoo Groups Message Poster ignores
that, and displays gibberish like the above.
Worse, all e-mails are sent to me as multipart/alternative,
with a bloated and unnecessary HTML section appended.
Can something be done about this?
