Which specific Basque word(s) are you referring to?
"To eat" in Basque is jan, from *e-an(-i), verbal root *an.

Basque etxe is a borrowing from Celtic *tegi "house" (PIE
*tek-). Modern Basque has the suffix -tegi, -egi "house,
place" (e.g. ardotegi < ardano + tegi "wine-house", harregi
< harri + tegi "stony place"). As an independent word, we
would expect *tegi > *egi, the diminutive of wich is *teg-xe
> etxe.
