****GK: The Indo-Iranian collectivity broke up before
the beginning of "history", sometime in the third
millennium BCE, while still in the steppes of Eurasia.
This collectivity can be traced back into
"prehistory", partly on linguistic, partly on
archaeological grounds. Since the break occurred long
before the Indo-Aryans appeared in the Indian
subcontinent as a notable presence, the reconstruction
and trace=back does not involve studying Indian or
Iranian archaeological data.****
