e o zero (< a: a: a)
eu ou u (< ou ou u < u: u: u)

but whether there was different quantities, I don't know.

How do you account for a supposed split
of *a into *e versus *o ?

Greek clearly has monosyllabic words
like klo:ps "stealer" versus kleptein "steal"
etc
I see no accentual pattern
to cause a split.
