I found the remarks strange. I can see how you and
others perceived them as derogatory but there is an
element of opinion --remember that opinions are like
buttholes, everybody has them and they all stink
except for yours and mine.
As a straight male, I'm attracted by female pheromones
and repelled by the smell of men. But I can only speak
for myself.
As for women in agriculture. My readings from anthro
classes stressed that among nomadic hunting and
gathering groups, women tended to be gatherers and
collected roughly 80% of the food in terms of caloric
intake. Given that women tended to specialize in
collecting plants, it stands to reason that women were
more likely to have invented agriculture. But although
I had anthro courses in grad school, I'm not an
anthropologist.
