I heard the term as "morphadite" --clearly from
"hermaphrodite", as a redneck insult.My aunts and
uncles from West Virginia used it as a "scientific"
term for hermaphrodite and told me they used to show
them at the sideshow in the 1930s and 40s. It's
still used in the South --my kids used it to insult
one another when we lived in the South in the 90s. I
never heard it with a "k". I mainly heard it used by
girls when growing up. Could be.
