I have checked this root &_t_m = ¿_t_m

&ayin as first consonant.

The core meaning is "end of the day,

beginning of night, time when things are colorless

and hard to distinguish".

&âtim "indistinct, colorless, greyish"

&atam "first period of (dim-lit) night"

&atama "star that cannot be seen clearly

either because night is not dark enough or

too much dust is flying in the air".

This last derivative clearly conflicts with

the hypothesis that the meaning could be "dark ou black".

This root &_t_m probably is a derivative of t_mm "end, finish".

hence &_t_m "end of day-light".

It has nothing to do with H_m "black".
