Which seems very much on the mark. What are other
cognates of lethe in other IE languages?
And the Greek -ia ending?
It's so pervasive as a borrowing.
What's the source?
Was it originally a marking for collectivities?
for abstract concepts?
I'm guessing it's the most successful borrowed
morpheme in existence
It does look a bit close to Arabic -i, feminine -ia,
though, although that is a marker for nationalities,
origins, etc.
