This is something I've been thinking about for some time now.
Are women, for some reason, refractory to historical linguistics? How
many women do you know who are active in this scholarly field, and
particularly in *Indo-European* historical linguistics?
Can this have anything to do with a putative perception by women of
Indo-European studies in general as something better suited to men?
After all, in scholarly literature prehistoric Indo-European peoples
have always been described as being ruled over by patriarchal warlike
elites...
