Sanskrit <sima'> "all, every, whole, entire" seems to be related to the *sem-/som-/sm- root with a fundamental meaning "one".  But can anyone tell me why Sanskrit has <i> in this word?  If it is from *smmo- one would expect <sama'>, would one not?  There doesn't seem to be evidence of a laryngeal from other IE languages, so why the <i>?  Anyone?
