I'm doing some research about the "wolf-men" and such of Indo-European
cultures. I know of the Germanic and Hittite wolf/dog men, a bit about
the Slavic werewolves, and a tiny bit about the bear-men of the
Hittites and Germanics, but I suspect there's more material out there.
Do you have any articles or books to suggest that would help me? I
already photocopied relevant parts of "Indo-European and the Indo-
Europeans" (Gamkrelidze, Ivanov: 1984), "Encyclopedia of Indo-European
Culture" (Mallory, Adams: 1997), and "Oxford Introduction to Proto-Indo-
European and the Proto-Indo-European World" (Mallory, Adams: 2006).
If there are wolf traditions in the other groups (surely, there must
be), or similar traditions with other animals (bear, beaver? otter?
woodpecker? The last has the Picene name refering to it...), could you
give me some pointers on where to look for more information?
