jetzt (in some areas dialectally jetza) < Mittelhochdt. jezuo, jeze
"eben, jetzt, soeben, alsbald" < ie "je" + zuo, ze "zu".

je < MHD ie < AHD io < ew germ. aiw, "erstarrte Kasusform zu got. aiws
"Zeit, Ewigkeit"; verwandt mit ewig, Ehe; enthalten in immer, irgend,
jeder, jeglich, jemand, nie"

heute < AHD. hiutu < hiu tagu "an diesem Tag(e)"; hiu "her"
