Celtic?...It's possible.
The Portuguese toponyms Queiriz and Queiriga are considered to be <Quederici and Quederica, that seem to be Germanic. I dont know if Queiriz and Queiroz were related.
Queiro´s < *queiroos < *quederiolos, *quedrolos

Queiriz < *Quederizi < *Quederici < *Caeterici? *Coeterici? *Caetrici* *Caletrici *Cadrici *Caed(e)rici *Quadrici?

In Costa Rica, where the Quirós are an aristocratic
family, they say
"Al lado de Dios, Quirós"
I think the Costa Rican Quirós are of Asturian
ancestry
Your derivation seems interesting but given that the
last names in question are, I believe, Galician,
Asturian and N. Portuguese, then why not Celtic *kaet-
(vel sim)? "wood, forest, etc."?
