I think that *nemos 'holy grove' has changed its meaning in Greek and
Albanian, denoting 'pasture'. Very characteristic are oronyms
Bjeshkët e Nemuna 'Pastures' Mountains' in Dardania and Mali i Nëmër-
çkës 'Pasture's Mountain' in Albania, first one calqued into Serbian
as Prokletije 'Cursed Mountains', for in Gheg dialect i namun with
umlauted form i nemun, means also 'cursed'. Furthermore, the
mountains Bjeshkët e Nemuna are very famous for their pastures.
