I believe that a C was moved out of the syllable
between a V and a newly syllabic C. But before
that occurred there were several changes that could
occur depending on what C-clusters existed in the
syllable. The simplest of them:
dhu-gYhax-tè:r
dhu-gYh_x-tè:r
dhu-gYhx,-tè:r
dhugYh-x,-tè:r
dó-kYe-xYè ... dó-kYexY-tós
dó-kYe-xYè ... dó-kY_xY-tós
dó-kYe-xYè ... dó-kYxY,-tós
dó-kYe-xYè ... dó-kY-tós
dó-kYe-xYè ... dókY-tós
dó-kYe-yè .... dókY-tós
a/e/o > 0 / _Z$
a/e/o > 0 / Z_$
Z moves to empty nucleus > +syl.
xY, > 0 / $KY_
resyllabification
xY > y / V_V
Z = any element that can become +syl.
PIE
*dhugYh-x,-tè:r 'daughter'
*dó-kYe-yè 'teaches'
*dókY-tós 'taught'
